Fall Is Here!

Sinus infection, we meet again.
About two weeks ago my allergies started acting up pretty bad and before I knew it, things had turned into a full blown sinus infection that completely knocked me on my ass. That is the second one this summer. I have never struggled with allergies before but these past few months have been terrible. Plus, I hear that fall is the worst time for allergies...great.

So, because of the fact that my head felt like it was going to explode and I couldn't breathe I have done very little running these past two weeks. About 6 miles that last week of August and...(gulp) 0 miles last week! Ahhh! I am trying to get back on track this week. I am feeling better and ran 2.5 miles yesterday and again this morning. I felt slow and completely out of shape but it was good to back out there. There were several things that made it a little easier.

First, fall is on its way! Don't get me wrong, it is still hot here. But, the humidity seems to have lessened, there has been a nice breeze and you can just sense that cooler weather is right around the corner. The sunlight has even changed - you know just a tiny little bit but enough that you know the seasons are transitioning. I love fall. It is my favorite season!

Also, I got some new shoes so that motivated me to get out the door even when I know I would be all slow and sluggish. I got a pair of Asics gel-cummulus.
They are super cushioned -especially compared to my gel-nimbus that I had been wearing since February and were on their last leg! They felt pretty good this morning and I can't wait to see how they do on some longer runs.

Finally, Wes and I have signed up to run the Memphis half marathon in December. It seems pretty random I know, but we have some friends who live in St. Louis and will be running in Memphis so we are going to take the opportunity to see them and fit in a good race while we are at it! I need to get on it though, because my longest run all summer has been 5 miles. So here we go....fall is here and it is time to train for another race!
